Yes. American High School welcomes students from a variety of geographic areas. Haiti, Denmark, Poland, the UK, Ghana and Italy are among home countries of our students. If you are taking courses online, you will have 24-hour-a -day access to your curriculum regardless of where you live. Our online high school is perfect for military families who frequently have a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) order as well as families that relocate for business reasons.

American High School gives financial and academic credit for high school transfer credits. We accept full and half credits, which means you can transfer a partial year of high school. The maximum is 17 credits @ $60 each, for a total possible tuition savings of $1020. To receive transfer credits, you must submit an official transcript from an accredited institution or homeschool portfolio for evaluation. Prompt receipt of student transcripts allows us to finalize your program in a timely manner.

To transfer credits from another high school, send a High School Transcript Request Form to your school or board of education to ensure your official transcript is submitted in a timely manner. Your school must fax or mail the transcript to us at the following address:

Registrar, American High School, 150 South Pine Island Rd., #300 Plantation, FL 33324. Fax: 1-888-545-8517.

If you are homeschooled, please submit a complete portfolio of your work and/or proper documentation. You must include the Home School Form with your portfolio. We offer testing for students who cannot provide a homeschool portfolio. NOTE: Passing the test will allow you to continue your high school education at AHS, but you will not receive credit toward your diploma for passing the test.

Program Overview

AHS parents and associates holds regional and national Accreditions.
College acceptance is based on a variety of factors — the level of challenge in the curriculum (The Academic Diploma), grades achieved, activities and leadership roles outside of school, and the quality of your college application and essays. AHS gives all students the opportunity to earn an accredited high school diploma, which is a basic requirement for college acceptance.
American High School is regionally accredited, so credits should be easily transferable. However, acceptance of transfer credits is at the discretion of the individual school. The decision whether to accept transfer credit is usually determined by the similarity of courses completed to courses offered.
American High School’s partners and associates are listed as a Tier 1 school, and many of our graduates have gone on to start a military career. The Army, Navy, and Marines accept enlistees from Tier 1 schools. The Air Force will only accept enlistees from Tier 1 schools. Schools can be re-categorized by the military at any time, so we recommend that you check with your local recruiter for specifics.
Absolutely! Students are invited to join the AHS high school student community. In this space they can interact with peers, blog, participate in discussion groups as well as receive student support from school staff.
Yes, our flexible online learning experience allows students to study anytime or anywhere and complete as little or as much work as their schedule allows. Because students don’t have the stress of due dates, they can allocate more time to lessons that are more challenging and less time to those lessons in which they excel.

There is no requirement to pursue a full diploma program. We offer more than 30 individual online high school courses for single purchase. Our summer school students, in particular, find this option appealing for credit recovery. However, many students choose to enroll in single-purchase courses for a variety of reasons:

  • To get ahead in their studies
  • To take courses that are unavailable in their regular school curriculum
  • To challenge themselves with an honors or dual credit course
  • To make up for missed classes
  • To gain experience with online learning
You’ll need access to a desktop, laptop, netbook or notebook loaded with Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer to take your classes. All assignments and examinations must be submitted as a doc. or docx document. Currently, mobile operating systems such as Linux, iOS and Android, browsers such as Firefox and Safari and mobile devices like iPads and other tablets and iPods are not officially supported by American High School. We do not discourage our students from using these operating systems or mobile devices; but we caution you that issues may arise.

Policies

AHS understands that not all programs are for all people. That said, we offer a ‘no questions asked’ money back policy for students who cancel within the first 5 days of enrollment. Our cancellation policy requires the parent, legal guardian or adult student enrolled with AHS to initiate the cancellation procedure. If your enrollment is cancelled after the first 5 days, you may be entitled to a refund or you may owe the school additional tuition. The number of lessons completed and the tuition paid determines this. Please refer to the Cancellation Policy on the Refund Policy page for more details.
